While talent is quite important in a new member, it isn’t of the upmost importance. Each additional member should bring something new to the table, have a dominant skill that no one else in the group brings or does as well. Not only should they feel comfortable around one another, each member of the team should be excited to show up to work and should be productive contributing members. When creating a team the goal should be to create a healthy social environment in which the members of the team can feel comfortable with one another.
Each team will consist of a single leader, possibly 2 or 3 leaders who will take the lead each when their perspective or skills best apply to the problem at hand, and secondary members that will contribute to the groups moral and motivation. A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members.” When you have created a good team they will work together seamlessly like a well-oiled machine. Team members (1) operate with a high degree of interdependence, (2) share authority and responsibility for self-management, (3) are accountable for the collective performance, and (4) work toward a common goal and shared rewards(s).
